Anne and Richard

Anne and Richard are old friends of mine. I have not seen them in such a long time and thanks to the magic of Facebook we are now in touch again.

I think of them as magical in a way. We had a few adventures with them that make the think this. Particularly the night we went to see Tom Petty at the Forum, lost our key in the crowd of 1000's, but found it. Ran out of gas in the parking lot (in the parking space we had just found). Ran into a friend at the end of the concert in the parking lot who just happened to have a full gas can. Then we went to Shipps.

Shipps was a 50's style diner that had a toaster at each end of the table. It was at the far, short end of the rectangular table. Richard sat opposite it (at the other far, short end of the table). He tossed two pieces of bread over the table they circled perfectly, spinning until they landed exactly in the toaster in the exact right spots. Amazing.

Thank you Obama!

Oh finally -- finally, finally, finally. Obama is here. I breathe a deep sigh of relief. The best part of the inauguration was his oath of office. The second best part was the helicopter flying away with Bush et. al. on it. It was a little surreal though -- it seems as if they were flying off to wreck havoc in some other unsuspecting place...let's hope not!

Today was an amazing day in SF!

I am not sure how long this great weather is going to last but boy is it nice! It was almost like summer today. Sunny, warm-ish, really lovely. I ran for a bit through Golden Gate Park and was glad I got out.

What a week!

Wow! Its been unbelievably nice here this week. Very spring-like! I talk to my friends in Illinois who have been experience 35 below with the wind chill temps and feel kind of bad...We've barely needed a sweater to go outside. Of course wait until July and August and it will be freezing here.

We live near Golden Gate Park and have our own little micro-climate (lucky us!). Unfortunately it makes it foggy and cold here during the months when it should be hot. We had friends visit last August and we actually wore coats to go to dinner down the street.

Ciao for now while I go outside and enjoy!
